Colour - the colour of the moving image is a brown wall which could connote normality and causal, with a black male wearing a white shirt, which can also connote purity and negative toward the stereotypes. Also he’s wearing a black and red head phone (Beats Head phone iconic for music) on his neck which can connote the love and passion of the music.

Composition - The male is standing in front of a brown wall, moving slow in a rhythm or a pattern to the sound of the music

Framing - The male’s white shirts stand out and attract the audience, there is a logo in the bottom of the left side of the moving image, which could connote that company is trying to promote and advert this company name and brand name.

Type of shot - The shot type of the moving image is a medium shot shoe the upper body of the black male body (From Head down to Chest)  this could connote his power and controlling in the moving image.

Size - The main image is very big and takes most of the background away to catch the audience attraction.

Subject matter - The moving is about where young talented people make music of genre and express the talents and feelings to a primary and secondly audiences.

Setting - The setting of the moving image looks like a wall off old and ancient house; this could connote the stereotypes and the ethnicity background. If there black they might grow up in a poor background and area.

Lighting – the main image of the left picture, the lighting is from angle which show the male artist controlling and powerful shot

Colour - the film poster is in black and white to set a dark and gloomy atmosphere. The black background can connote bad, criminal, death and an evil. The white text on the film poster can connote cleanliness and purity. The colours all can connote than 50 cent have a bad past filled with evil and bad event and the white can connote how different he is now and how he changed his life, also how the colours stand out from each other. I think it creates a dark and negative mood to the audience because the colours are black colour and black connote negative.

Composition - their are two main images on the film poster which are a comparison and are a binary opposition (Good vs. Bad) firstly the left main image is a full image of American artist 50 Cent in a pose which could connote is authority and his power, and the right main image has finger prints in each section, which could connote that his past he was a criminal. The way the film poster is set out like a good vs. bad layout which could mean future and the past.

Framing – the black background is next to the brown background to make one whole image and it contrast with both colours  

Size – the back background is half of the whole image and the brown background is also half of the main image which could connote his future and past and how different his life is now then before. The text is in white and in the left corner of the whole main image, which is a quote and could connote      

Type of shot – the shot of the main left image of 50 cent is medium shot which connote his power and his command. The right image of the finger prints is a close up shot which can connote the former life he had.

Subject Matter – the subject of this film poster is how to achieve to best is life even thought you can have a bad and negative past, you can still gain a great positive future. 5o Cent is the main image and the main object and he is the unique selling point.    

Setting - The setting of the main image is in a studio and police office. The reason why is the lighting of the image and the fingers printing is mostly iconic to be in a police station.

Lighting – the main image of the left picture, the lighting is from angle which show 50 Cent is a controlling and powerful shot.

TED the Movie

The film poster: Ted, The main image cover must of the film poster, it show two characters, one human and one bear urinating in a public toilet, the human on the left is giving us a relief like posture which could connote that this comedy. The main image is a long shot of both characters, showing both characters body and their feature; this could connote that how different both characters are between each other. It giving us representation that it connotes a fantasy film as it is shown a live bear doing human activity. One human like icons is the bear urinating and holding a beer bottle at the same time, which could connote that the bear could be drunk, or hangover and need to do at the same time (drinking and urinating).They way how both characters are doing the same thing (urinating) at the same time, could connote that there is a sight sign of bromance, love and friendship

The film poster is very interesting because the male on the left is in a urinating position and would put some the audience off. (Mostly Girl because women wouldn’t like that type of pose, it private mate. Some males would find it funny because they can relate with type of action.) But women can narrate with soft smooth bears, when normally given to as a present or a gift. However, see a bear urinating can change people ideas and can make both gender laugh.

The background of the main image has very dull colours, this could connote that movie is not very sociable to watch and might be boring to the audience. Or it can connote the toilet are a dull place to be for a character but also be funny or entertaining for the audience. The setting of the main image is set in the male toilet; we can see that by the male urinate on the wall in the image. This suggest that it normality and causal.

The masthead at the top of the film poster is in green to stand out and attract the audience. At the topit has a Tagline it says from the creator of ‘Family Guy’. Family Guy’s fan base and the views of family guy would be very appealed because family guy is a fantasy comedy with a normal family, talking dog and a lot of stereotype, which could connote that TED and Family Guy have familiar aspects. This show how both movie and TV shows are associated and linked together. The green lettering behind the white background determines the normality and nature of the film. 

The way how they have the actors name above the main title, which could connote how important the actors are in the media industry. If the names are at the top, all the actors can bring a fan base which can bring in a bigger audience.

TED is a Hollywood movie; one of the reasons is the institution of the movie Universal Studios are a huge media company and the actor’s names are very famous and bring a big fan base and audience.  

I normally read The Sun if there is a topic that grabs my attention, especially that sport section as I have a keen interest for that sport. I hardly read the showbiz or current affairs topic as I do not find that interesting. My sister normally buys the newspaper on her way to work.

I usually by ‘The Match’ and ‘Vibe’ magazine as I find music very interesting and I read about the profile and views on the chosen player for that issue.

I watch 20 hours of television particularly on the weekends as I have more free time, sports and soap dramas are the main genres I watch with my family, my mum choses what we watch.

When I do listen to the radio I like Kiss 100 as they play that latest music from different artists, I listen to this radio 1 hour a week mostly during the journeys I take in the car. I don’t like Smooth FM because they play music that is not from my generation for example 60s and 70s music.

I recently watched TED in the cinema with my sister and my mum and we all decided on that film to watch.

I usually spend 20 hours on the internet at home and at school for example, to use Facebook and YouTube.

AS Media - Samuel Felix

My first impression of AS media is that it will be challenging and very difficult in the first year as it is a big step from GCSE media. AS media will give me a chance to be creative and productive with my current skills and help me to develop new skills and learn the subject more in depth.

My first media lesson gave me an introduction on British culture in the media industry and changed my views and opinions on how effective it is for the British people i.e. the reputation of teenagers. We also learnt about connotations, denotations and myths.

For example, ‘Mother’ connotes a female parent, a female guardian who looks after their child or their children, is a denotation of a mother and Myth is what they do, a mother is caring, sweet, brave and selfless.
